PD Dr. Matthias Klusch is
principal researcher and research fellow of the German Research Center
for Artificial
Intelligence (DFKI) where he heads the Intelligent Information Systems
(I2S) research team of the DFKI department for Agents and Simulated
Reality. He is also a habilitated private docent of computer science at
the Saarland
University, Germany. His research areas are hybrid (neuro-symbolic) AI,
intelligent agents and semantic
technologies, and quantum AI for intelligent data analysis and
service coordination in smart information systems and applications.
Matthias Klusch obtained his diploma and
doctoral degree (PhD) from the University of Kiel and his habilitation
degree (PD) in computer science from the Saarland University (Germany).
In the past, he worked as adjunct professor of computer
science at the TU Swinburne in Melbourne (Australia), assistant
professor at the VU
Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and the TU Chemnitz (Germany), and as
postdoctoral researcher at the Carnegie Mellon
University in Pittsburgh (USA). Among others, he was chair of the AI
section (GI-FBKI) of the German
Society for Informatics (2018-2023). Matthias Klusch is
editorial member of several international scientific journals,
co-/chaired and served on more than 300 program committees of
international conferences, contributed to many research projects funded
by the European Commission, national goverment and industry, and
published more than 230 papers in his research areas. Scientific

Priv.-Doz. Dr. rer. nat. Matthias Klusch
ist leitender Wissenschaftler und Research Fellow des Deutschen
Forschungszentrums für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) in Saarbrücken
sowie
habilitierter Privatdozent (PD) für Informatik an der Universität des
Saarlandes. Seit 1999 leitet er das
Forschungsteam Intelligente Informationssysteme (I2S) am DFKI und der
Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken. Seine Forschung befasst sich
mit der innovativen Anwendung von hybrider (neuro-symbolischer) KI,
intelligenten Agenten und semantischen Technologien sowie Quanten-KI
für intelligente Datenanalyse und
Dienstkoordination in intelligenten Informationssystemen.
Matthias Klusch
promovierte an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (1997) und
habilitierte in Informatik an der Universität des Saarlandes (2009).
Zuvor war er tätig als Adjunct Professor für Informatik an der TU
Swinburne in Melbourne, Australien (2008-2014), Assistenzprofessor an
der Freien Universität Amsterdam, Niederlande (2000-2002) und an der
Technischen Universität Chemnitz (1997-1999), sowie als Postdoctoral
Researcher an der Carnegie-Mellon Universität in Pittsburgh, USA. Zudem
war er Sprecher des Fachbereichs für Künstliche
Intelligenz
(GI-FBKI) der
Gesellschaft für Informatik (2018-2023), Mitglied
des
wissenschaftlichen Beirats des internationalen Forschungszentrums
CETINIA für KI und Informationstechnologie in Madrid, Spanien
(2008-2022) und Finalist für den ACM SIGART Award for Excellence in
Autonomous Agent Research
(2008). Ausserdem war er Mitbegründer der deutschen
Konferenzreihe MATES zu
Multiagentensystemen (2003-2017), Koordinator der ersten Europäischen
Forschungsgruppe (SIG-CIA im Europäischen NoE AgentLink, 1999 - 2004)
und internationalen
Workshopreihe (CIA, 1997- 2008) zu intelligenten Informationsagenten im
Internet und Leiter des internationalen Wettbewerbs zu semantischer
Dienstvermittlung im Internet (S3, 2007 - 2014). Matthias Klusch ist
Redaktionsmitglied von mehreren internationalen Fachzeitschriften
wie Intelligent Information Systems, Web Semantics und Cooperative
Information Systems und war Mitglied von bislang mehr als 300
Programmkomitees. Er hat aktuell mehr als 230 wissenschaftliche
