Position can be made suitable for a new Ph.D., or for a more senior research associate. Compensation will be competitive.

Portland is a fine place to live. There are numerous outdoors activities (skiing, windsurfing, hiking, beach combing, etc.) within 1 hour's drive. Yes, it rains here in the winter (probably does something nasty where you are too), but you can have 6 glorious spring/summer/fall months of no clouds or rain.
