- Task TE 3.1:
- Generic Building-Blocks for Telematics
Infrastructure
Provide support for achieving the economies of sharing and scale
by maximising the use of generic building blocks in telematics
applications across different sectors, producing a highly layered and
structured telematics infrastructure (stratification). To consider
means for identifying common requirements across projects and sectors,
providing consistency between telematics solutions in the use of
identical infrastructural components, and for defining critical
service levels, interservice specifications and common functional
modules composing the telematics infrastructure.
Within FLUIDS
generic building blocks will be developed for telematics
infrastructure support in the design of intelligent interfaces for a
broad class of systems.
This is an important feature because systems exist that were not
designed with a knowledge oriented organisation but that may be
improved by creating intelligent user interfaces.
This can be achieved by embodying capabilities for understanding the
conventional modules of the existing system and in this way providing
answers and explanations that are meaningful enough for adequate
human-machine interaction in real time.
- Task TE 3.2:
- Telematics Systems Qualities
Select methods, tools and other best practices for ensuring the
following systems qualities: openness, interworking and
interoperability, precise interface definitions (e.g. for describing
application programming interfaces), (pre-) standardisation,
modularity (e.g. object orientation), distribution (e.g.
client-server), multiple language support, flexibility,
maintainability, reusability, stability, resilience,
dependability, and conformity with user requirements.
The project FLUIDS
will provide methods and tools to ensure the
following system qualities: openness, intra- and interoperability, a
precise interface definition to describe knowledge oriented
application models for real time decision support systems.
