User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction

Description:

User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction (UMUAI) provides an interdisciplinary forum for the dissemination of new research results on interactive computer systems that can be adapted or adapt themselves to their current users, and on the usage of user models for adaptation purposes.

The journal publishes relevant high-quality original papers from, e.g., the following areas:

Relevant papers from the fields of Psychology, Linguistics and the Instructional Sciences are also considered if they bear implications for the design of computational systems. As is generally the case for journal publications, theoretical proposals should normally be appropriately substantiated, e.g., by a discussion of the results of a computer implementation, by a formal analysis, or by empirical experiments.

The central audience of the journal are researchers, students and industrial practitioners from the following areas: Human-Computer Interaction (focus on intelligent interfaces and cognitive engineering), Artificial Intelligence (focus on knowledge-based systems), the Instructional Sciences (focus on computer-based tutoring systems), Linguistics (focus on pragmatics and dialog models), and the Information Sciences (focus on intelligent information retrieval).

UMUAI has been published quarterly since 1991.
