Is the real java in your PATH?

That message probably comes from a Microsoft version of java, not the Sun java.

One solution is to put Sun's java bin directory in the PATH.

Another solution is to edit the script that starts the server (and later the one
for the client), /Program Files/MARY TTS/bin/maryserver.bat, and either define
the PATH there or just put it in the last line, something like:

"/Program Files/Java/jre1.6.0/bin/java" -ea -Xms40m -Xmx384m -cp %CLASSPATH%
"-Dmary.base=%MARY_BASE%" "-Djava.endorsed.dirs=%MARY_BASE%\lib\endorsed" %1 %2
%3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 de.dfki.lt.mary.Mary

The quotes are probably necessary since there is a space in the path, and you
should adjust your path to whatever version of java you want to use.
