+1 for the following solution:
   - rename gui/vizkit into gui/vizkit3d, do not change the namespace 
for now. We could update the namespace to vizkit3d (with backward 
compatibility) at a later date.
   - make gui/vizkit a ruby package that contains the widget management. 
It would contain all the typelib/qt parts for now, but these parts could 
be moved to tools/qt_typelib (along tools/rtt_typelib) at a later date.
