The problem is that these bootstrap.sh script get updated from project
to project, instead of starting "fresh" from the bootstrap.sh script
from rock (linked from the installation page)

which contains the necessary checks since february this year (i.e. more
or less since we announced that ruby 1.8 support will be dropped)

I'll add some error checking in the package sets as well. It is a bit
late, but better than nothing
