Hi Anna,

Ubuntu 12.04 is the oldest distribution supported by rock which is shipped with OpenCV-2.3.1 Therefore the external/opencv should not be built if you are using at least 12.04. Nevertheless rock's external/opencv should be updated. Could you please open a ticked for this. 

If someone is updating external/opencv I would suggest to use OpenCV-2.4.5 which is the OpenCV version of 13.10 and compatible to the opencv ruby binding https://rubygems.org/gems/ropencv/
