The Competence Center for e-Learning is a research and development center within the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence that works on and sometimes co-ordinates teaching and learning within computer networks.

Services offered by the DFKI Competence Center address both, individuals as well as enterprises, organizations and governmental institutions. The focus is on life-long learning of people as well as on knowledge management in large social groups.

The CCeL views e-Learning more comprehensive than usual. It is not restricted to humans, but also comprises learning computers and, in particular, humans and computers learning together, interactively, and distributed. Machine learning and data mining are also addressed in CCeL projects. The DFKI Competence Center for e-Learning aims at synergy effects through the co-operation of a diversity of e-learning projects.
