Innovative Fabriksysteme

abstract = {Today’s global competition and rising prizes for resources force manufacturing companies to
directly connect their IT-Systems with their manufacturing plants. The connection, that should be
flexible, needs to be done in increasingly shorter time, resulting in an ad-hoc connection structures. Such
inadequate connection of the business and technical (manufacturing) level increases the planning and
implementation effort dramatically. Therefore this paper examines a flexible communication architecture
approach to close the gap between business and technical level. The concept enables the transfer of
information in form of key performance indicators to support decision-making processes in IT-Systems
of manufacturing companies. To prove the feasibility of the vertical integration approach a prototype is
implemented and evaluated in the SmartFactoryKL.},
