One of the highlights of the Robotics Exploration Lab is the 288 sqm space exploration hall. Here, DFKI scientists carry out experiments on a reproduced lunar landscape, testing robot systems under controlled, reproducable conditions. Worldwide unique, the setup of the hall can be adapted in order to test the mobility of systems either in the horizontal plane, on an inclined plane, or in the air, while, at the same time, providing the opportunity to test wheeled and flying systems and robots for safety and rescue missions.
Further test facilites include the underwater lab housing a 44,000 l tank, and the robot test track.
