The department for Innovation & Research Consulting, IRC is in charge of facilitating their application in real-world businesses.

IRC aims to make the widespread portfolio of DFKI’s know-how available for enterprises and, in this way, to foster the knowledge transfer from research into industrial practice. IRC acts as a point of contact for corporate customers. We answer your information, project, and consulting queries.

Based on our expertise in performing application-oriented research and running industrial projects, DFKI is able to effectively support enterprises in transforming technological innovations effectively into operational processes.

IRC offers companies a range of short-, middle- and long-term services:

Short-term:

• Workshops - Together with the customer, we scope the problems and sketch concepts for technology-aided solutions.

• Consulting projects - We analyse and rate the suitability of a technology for the particular sector or domain.

Medium-term:

• Feasibility studies - We evaluate appropriate technologies regarding the actual and efficient options for their implementation in a specific company context.

• Counseling - We advise companies in technological and organizational questions.

Long-term:

• Coachings - We support companies to self-administer a new technology and use it for their own additional innovation projects.

• Technology trend scoutings - We study long-term technology trends and evaluate them. 

IRC adds an economic perspective to the comprehensive expert know-how and experience available in the DFKI research departments. In this way, DFKI combines its technological and economic know-how in one entity, the IRC, in order to offer its customers an operational approach to innovative technologies.
