English: Vacancy: Student Research Assistant – Analysis of Metadata and Web Development (August 2015)

The Language Technology Lab of DFKI offers a position in Berlin, Germany, for a Student Research Assistant – Analysis of Metadata and Web Development (15-20 hours/week). The position is available starting September 2015 for a duration of three months and is set in the context of a European project. Candidates should have a background in computer science, computational linguistics, or in a related discipline. The task involves the automatic analysis of very large amounts of metadata records describing language resources, classifying the results, applying the results to an existing category scheme, grounding the results in existing empirical data and visualising the results in a dynamic web interface; accordingly, the successful candidate should have knowledge about the following topics: metadata schemas, language resources, programming, analytics, some statistics, dynamic web applications. This project can also be used as the topic of an M.A. or diploma thesis. Qualified candidates who are not based in Berlin are encouraged to apply (working remotely is possible).

German: Stellenausschreibung: Studentische Hilfskraft – Analyse von Metadaten und Web-Entwicklung (August 2015)

Der Forschungsbereich Sprachtechnologie des DFKI bietet eine Stelle für eine studentische Hilfskraft im Bereich Analyse von Metadaten und Web-Entwicklung an (15-20 Stunden/Woche). Die Aufgaben: zunächst semiautomatische, langfristig jedoch automatisiert ablaufende Analyse einer sehr großen Menge von Metadaten-Einträgen zu Sprachressourcen; Klassifikation der Ergebnisse; Kalibrierung der Ergebnisse mit Hilfe existierender empirischer Daten; Abstimmung der Kalibrierung mit verschiedenen europäischen Stakeholdern; Visualisierung der Ergebnisse in Form einer dynamischen Web-Anwendung. Die im Rahmen dieses zunächst auf drei Monate befristeten Projekts (Verlängerung möglich) durchzuführenden Arbeiten sind als Grundlage einer Abschlussarbeit geeignet (M.A./M.Sci. Thesis, Magister- oder Diplomarbeit). Die Ergebnisse sollen auf internationalen Konferenzen vorgestellt werden. Die Aufgaben sind nicht zwingend in Berlin durchzuführen, zwei bis drei Abstimmungstreffen vor Ort sollten jedoch ermöglicht werden können.

The Language Technology Lab of DFKI offers a position in Berlin, Germany, as Machine Translation Researcher and Developer. The position is available starting September/October 2015 and is set in the context of German projects. The candidates should have a master degree or PhD in computer science, computational linguistics, or in a related discipline (bachelor degree also possible depending on qualifications and expertise). Expertise and experience in the following areas is expected: Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art statistical (SMT) and/or rule-based (RBMT) machine translation; Experience in implementing SMT and/or RBMT systems, components or workflows or related multilingual or crosslingual applications.

The position is available starting September/October 2015 and is set in the context of German projects. The candidates should have a master degree or PhD in computer science, computational linguistics, or in a related discipline (bachelor degree also possible depending on qualifications and expertise). Expertise and experience in the following areas is expected: Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art NLP techniques in one or more areas of text analytics (e.g., information extraction, summarisation, classification, clustering, parsing, semantic analysis, sentiment analysis, opinion mining, linked data etc.); Experience in implementing (web-based) information extraction systems.

The position is available starting September/October 2015 and is set in the context of German projects. The candidates should have a master degree or PhD in computer science, computational linguistics, or in a related discipline (bachelor degree also possible depending on qualifications and expertise). Expertise and experience in the following areas is expected: Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art NLP techniques in one or more areas of text generation (e.g., text grammars, schemas, hypertext and story generation, information extraction, text summarisation, linked data to text etc.); Experience in implementing web-based text or report generation systems.
