Key idea of the semantic Web is to make the semantics of Web resources more machine-understandable by annotating them with references to formally defined ontologies in standard ontology languages like RDFS and OWL2. That allows any semantic Web application to better understand the meaning of resources by means of logical reasoning on their annotations and their interrelations. The benefits include a far more precise, intelligent search for and automated composition planning of relevant content and services in the Web. Semantic Web technologies (in short: semantic technologies) are concerned with the semantic annotation and automated reasoning on annotated Web resources.
In this seminar we present and discuss various issues of and recent advances in semantic technologies. The list of topics includes Linked Data search, ontology classification and peer-to-peer ontology matching, semantic querying with uncertainty, semantic discovery and composition of Web services, and semantic 3D Web.
Depending on the examination regulation (Pruefungsordnung, PO) which is valid for your study of computer science at the Saarland University, the number of credit points for successfull participation in this seminar are 7 (PO 2006) or 8 (PO 2004).
If you want to participate in the this seminar, please register for it until October 1, 2011, 6 pm, LATEST via email to email@example.com. Your registration request should provide the following information:
