About Me

I've studied computer science at the Saarland University from 1990 to 2000. My Diploma thesis about automated layout of Yellow Pages was finished in 1996, and followed by my Ph.D. thesis about adaptive layout of Web pages, which I finished in 2000. In 1995 I joined the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) in Saarbrücken, where I'm working today as Senior Researcher.

My general research interests comprise adaptive user interfaces, Semantic Web, and Ubiquitous Computing. Within these areas, I devoted so far special attention to the building and the exploitation digital memories, the related issue user modeling, and methods for adapting layout and style.
