Language Technology for Interactive, Multi-Media Online Language Learning

The modern language learning lessons can take place via web-based online learning services, which can be accessed anywhere and anytime. This kind of services needs urgently the support of language technologies, which can automtically generate learning material, correct inputs of lerners and provide personalized diagnostics or explanations. In Sprinter, we will develop novel methods to help pronunciation training for learning foreign languages based on the state-of-the-art of the speech verificiation and speech recognition technologies. Furthermore, we will conduct research on interactive and dialogue-based language learning. Deep linguistic grammars will be adapted to text analysis and paraphrase generations.
