Abstract
The authors introduce dynamic coalition formation among rational software agents in open and heterogeneous distributed environments such as the Internet and Web. They discuss relevant approaches coping with only parts of the DCF problem domain in different disciplines such as decision theory, social reasoning, and machine learning. Finally, they sketch one novel DCF scheme and highlight some future research work toward a general framework of dynamic coalition formation.
