Projects

In the following research projects are presented that a related to the Touch3D SIG.

Instinct - Touch-based interfaces for Interaction with 3D Content

Creating and evaluating interaction paradigms and models for stereoscopic projection surfaces is the goal of this research project.

iMUTS - Interscopic Multi-Touch Surfaces

The InSTInCT project focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of new simple and efficient touch-based interfaces, with the goal of bringing widespread visibility to new generations of interactive 3D applications, aimed in particular at general public audiences.

Gravity + Multitouch = 3D tracking

1) Tangible Magic Lenses for 3D Information Spaces

To solve the challenge of exploring large information spaces on interactive surfaces such as tabletops, optically tracked, lightweight, passive displays (tangible magic lenses) can be used that provide elegant three-dimensional exploration of rich datasets, e.g. 3D volumetric data.

2) Natural Interaction Techniques for 3D Virtual Environments

This project investigates several ways of interacting with (remote) 3D virtual environments, e.g. by using digital paper and pens, touch & tilt on mobiles phones or gaze-supported interaction.
