This is the difference between having a separate channel for meta-data 
(as we do for the transformer) or embedding it in the data structure. If 
embedded in the data structure, you end up always sending the same 
information -- since the origin of the temperature does not change.

If you have a single component that generates multiple temperature 
readings, then either design a sample type that have multiple fields 
(and what-is-what is contained in the field name) or have multiple ports 
(and what-is-what is contained in the port name).
