Pleopatra Tools and the Pleopatra API are a project of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) aimed at controlling Pleo robots via USB interface.

The Pleopatra Tools are a graphic Java application, which enables the user to steer a pleo in a very simple manner from a computer. The Tools include the following functionality:

• Establishing a connection to Pleo
• Storing personalized information about different Pleos
• Recording audio from Pleo and direct playback on the PC
• Inspection and playback of sound-, motion-, and personality files
• Displaying live camera images from pleo
• Twitter-Access

The Pleopatra API is a Java API for steering and controlling Pleo. It can be used as a foundation for creating own Java applications. The following functions are supported:

• Controlling motors and sensors
• Access to the file system
• Loading personality files
• Playback of sound- and motion-files
• Recording audio from pleo in wav format
• Accessing pleos camera and saving bmp images
