Sergio Roa Ovalle

I am Researcher at the Talking Robots Group@Language Technology Lab at the German Research Center for AI (DFKI). I am currently working on the CogX project. I am also PhD candidate in Computer Science at Saarland University.

I have a first degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, and a Master of Science degree in Applied Computer Science from the University of Freiburg in Germany. I performed my master thesis in collaboration with the department of Computational Linguistics & Phonetics at Saarland University. I am interested in a broad range of aspects involving computational techniques for emulating human reasoning, learning and communication abilities, and the way different such techniques can be put together. I have experience in Logic-based Knowledge Representation, Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Neuroinformatics, Cognitive and Developmental Robotics and Cognitive Science. Currently I am focusing on interactive machine learning in Cognitive Robotics.
