Edinburgh has excellent travel connections to most international and UK destinations.

Edinburgh International Airport has regular direct flights to major international airports such as London, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt. The airport is located just 8 miles (12 km) away from the Edinburgh  city centre which can be easily reached by a 24/7 bus service.

Glasgow International Airport and Prestwick International Airport, which can be reached within one and two hours from Edinburgh city centre, respectively and offer a variety of additional connections including no-frills airlines.

Regular Intercity trains connect Edinburgh to London within less than five hours (398 miles / 640 km), and for those coming from continental Europe and intending to bring a car for further travel around Scotland, regular direct ferry services operate from/to the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium.

The city is served by an excellent public transport network and most sightseeing attractions within the city are within walking distance from the city centre.

Local weather conditions

Edinburgh has a moderate, northern European climate with temperatures similar to those in most other European capitals from April to September. Visitors should be aware that Scottish weather can be very unpredictable, often alternating between rain and sunshine several times a day - it is always worth packing a sweater and/or a light raincoat or handy umbrella!
