Service Identification, Description, Comparison and Search
in the Service Space
In the context of the Semantic Web, the term "services" has been
often used as synonym for Web services. However Web services build only a
small fraction of all available services. This talk will  introduce the
service space, its dimensions and classify known service types in the space.
For different service types and use cases formalisms with different
expressivities are required in order to describe service offers and service
requests. While obtaining semantic service descriptions is alone quite
challenging, scalability of search algorithms becomes an important issue
especially when expressive formalisms are used. In the talk, a novel
semi-automatic technique for the acquisition of semantic descriptions will be
presented. The talk will discuss challenges in the area of service search
and introduce offline indexing technique as a way to gain efficiency of
service search.
