First of all add the mars dev's to the recipients of this mail (*done*) ;).

Then (my (short) opinion/suggestion):

1) define an clear interface WHAT mars needs (node-viz, colors,
positions, loading attributes, ....)
1.1) implement this interface definition (means also porting the
mars-graphics-code to this basis)
1.2) switch mars to this new interface
2) find an way to feed-back the data (for camera/depth-camera viz) back
to mars
2.1) implement this
3) add some functionality to interface this new-viz with rock/vizkit3d
to provide the same loading mechanisms for online/log visualization
which is then independent of mars(-sim)
