Join IDESSAI 2025 – The 5th Inria-DFKI European Summer School on AI

This summer, deepen your expertise in Responsible AI & Machine Ethics or Twin AI at the IDESSAI 2025, the fifth edition of the Inria-DFKI European Summer School on AI. Taking place at the scenic Inria headquarters just outside Paris, this fully in-person event brings together young researchers, seasoned scientists, and industry leaders to explore the future of AI.

Where: Inria Rocquencourt (near Paris) | When: July 21–25, 2025

Two parallel tracks await you:

  • Track A: Responsible AI and Machine Ethics – Addressing the ethical, legal, and social challenges of AI systems.
  • Track B: Twin AI – Focusing on simulation-based AI, digital twins, robotics, and smart environments.

Each track features a rich mix of lectures, hands-on labs, and case studies taught by international experts from research and industry.

Who should attend?
IDESSAI is primarily designed for PhD students in AI-related disciplines, but it’s also open to MSc students, postdocs, and professionals from academia and industry. If you're passionate about AI’s future and want to connect with peers across Europe, IDESSAI is for you.

Confirmed keynotes & speakers include:

  • Holger Hermanns (Saarland University) – AI Act for the Working Engineer
  • Maximilian Kiener (TU Hamburg) – Deep Ethics
  • Researchers from DFKI and Inria on topics like fairness, privacy, explainability, digital twins, robotics, and more.
  • Industry guests from NVIDIA and beyond.
     

New in 2025: Optional track on Entrepreneurship for Scientists
From idea to impact: Learn how to turn your research into real-world solutions in four interactive sessions covering funding ecosystems, product development, business modeling, and team building.
 

Connect & Collaborate
Take part in poster and demo sessions, network during coffee breaks and shared meals, and enjoy two social events, including a welcome dinner and a mid-week gathering.
 

How to apply
Registration opens May 22, 2025 via www.idessai.eu.
Attendance is limited to 50 participants per track to ensure close interaction with instructors and fellow attendees. Early application is strongly encouraged.
Fees include all courses, coffee breaks, lunches, and social events. Accommodation is not included and must be arranged individually.
