"We warmly congratulate Kristian Kersting and are delighted with this prestigious award - one of the most internationally significant in AI. The appointment as an AAAI Fellow is based on many years of outstanding work and not only brings extremely well-deserved worldwide recognition, but also even more visibility for the team, its excellent research and the environment of the DFKI laboratory in Darmstadt."
The Fellows elected by the AAAI are individuals who have made significant, sustained contributions - usually over a period of at least ten years - to the field of artificial intelligence. Each year, 5-10 new Fellows are selected by the AAAI committee. They include many important personalities in AI, such as John McCarthy, Herbert Simon, Marvin Minsky, Turing Prize winners such as Leslie Valiant and Yoshua Bengio, as well as Wolfgang Wahlster, long-time Managing Director and one of the founding directors of DFKI.
