Abstract

Social Media have become central to information gathering, sharing, and dissemination also in the business world. Opening up opportunities but also exposing new risks, the professional use of Social Media within the enterprise requires a broad range of skills – including search, selection, administration, creation, and publication of information. Motivated by the lack of Social Media training in today’s vocational education and qualification chain, we are developing an open educational platform to support the development of Social Media skills, targeting trainees, teachers, and supervisors. At its core, the platform integrates a mobile eLearning platform built upon Social Learning techniques, allowing users to collaboratively discuss and enrich learning objects. The learning experience is driven by semantics-based, personalized recommendations. We motivate the need for the platform, sketch the use cases in focus, and discuss challenges, concepts, and innovations.
