This chapter discusses design principles of operational risk ontologies. In particular, the contribution of ontology modelling to OpR concepts on different levels of abstraction is highlighted. Realistic examples from MUSING IT OpR and application domain specific ontologies are provided. Here we will draw a picture of axiomatic guidelines that build foundation for the ontological framework and allow the reference of relevant reporting and compliance standards and generally agreed best practice.
