Duration:

Pilotierung und Evaluation eines verkehrsträgerübergreifenden Technologie-Scouting-Systems für Mobilität und Verkehr

The early identification and strategic evaluation of technologically relevant developments are crucial to ensuring future-proof and sustainable transportation systems. The project “Cross-Modal Technology Scouting System for Mobility and Transport (TSS MoVe)” aims to develop an innovative pilot system for automated technology research across all modes of transport. It builds on the findings from the preliminary study on the design and operation of a semi-automated technology scouting system in the rail transport sector.

Project Goal

The goal of many players in the mobility sector is to identify and strategically assess technologically relevant developments at an early stage. The TSS MoVe offers a pioneering platform for automated technology research across all modes of transportation. Through its advanced technical architecture and the application of modern NLP methods, it enables efficient knowledge extraction and trend analysis, while meeting high standards of user-friendliness and data protection. Within the project, DFKI is responsible for the design and implementation of accompanying research , focusing on the evaluation of the language processing system, the evaluation of the pilot system (UI/UX research), and the analysis of user interactions and user acceptance.

Technical Implementation and Innovation

TSS MoVe utilizes a modular microservice architecture with Docker and Kubernetes for scaling and integrating heterogeneous data sources. Large Language Models (LLM) and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) support knowledge extraction and analysis of technological trends across all forms of transportation. A comprehensive ontology fosters interdisciplinary synergies and the visualization of technological trends through interactive knowledge graphs and trend radars.

Evaluation, Further Development, and Accompanying Research

Accompanying research assesses the effectiveness of TSS MoVe. Quantitative usage data and qualitative user feedback are directly integrated into the development process. Flexible sponsorship models consider legal, technical, and financial aspects to ensure sustainable implementation. The system is continuously improved to optimize user experience and increase system relevance.

Outlook

The system continuously integrates user feedback and accompanying research to best adapt to needs. With flexible sponsorship models, TSS MoVe ensures sustainable development and supports strategic planning in transport. It is thus well-equipped to shape the future of mobility.
