Boosting the Recall of descriptive Phrases in Web Snippets

Zusammenfassung
In this poster, we presented WebQA, a Web Question Answering System which is aimed at discovering answers to natural language questions on the web. One of its major components is the module that answers definition questions. This module searches for answers by means of a query rewriting strategy, which considerably boosts the recall of descriptive utterances. This study compares three different search strategies and deals at greater length with the challenges posed by the assessment of web-based definition Question Answering Systems.
