Zusammenfassung

Fault-free function and defect tolerance are key requirements for modern embedded systems. To meet time-tomarket constraints, complex IP-components are used to assemble even more complex semiconductor products. Often, trust is required since these IPs are developed, verified and tested by external third-party IP-providers. In this work, we focus specifically on processor-IPs. A method for run-time instruction-replacement on hardware-level is presented to increase the reliability of the system. In contrast to existing techniques, our scheme can easily deal with black-box components and is comparatively lightweight. Furthermore, it includes an easy to use methodology for automated and convenient implementation. The results shows the successful application of this novel technique for reliable integration of state-of-the-art RISC-based processor-IPs.
