Zusammenfassung

3D scanning of objects is relatively widespread nowadays. However, the acquisition of a virtual copy often requires substantial amounts of manual work and for many types of objects the reconstruction process itself simply fails. In this thesis we enhance the usability of 3D scanning and extend its applicability to a larger amount of objects by introducing both novel hardware and algorithms. The work constitutes a fully automatic pipeline that does not require any user interaction besides object placement and initiation of the process. The final result is a highly detailed, yet memory efficient 3D reconstruction of the original object. Classical digitization approaches consider only geometry reconstruction. In contrast to this we focus on simultaneous geometry and reflectance acquisition, which enables photo-realistic rendering.
